# Sending Blockchain Payments

> Send outgoing blockchain payments: request requirements, statuses, and webhooks.

Use the `blockchain_payments` endpoint to initiate outgoing payments, starting from USD and ending in stablecoins or foreign currency.

1. **On-ramp: USD → stablecoins.** A program, or its end customer, turns dollars in their own Lead account into stablecoin sent out to a wallet. The money is leaving the account over the blockchain rail.

2. **FX Payout: USD → stablecoins → FX.** A program, or its end user, turns dollars in their own Lead account into a foreign currency, moving over blockchain rails.

The endpoint assumes 1:1 for USD \<> stablecoin value.

## Requirements

* Endpoint enabled & account limits set
* An active `account_number_id` funded with USD. See [Create an Account Number](/api-reference/endpoint/account-number/create-an-account-number).

## Statuses & webhooks

| **Status** | \*\*Definition \*\* | **Webhook** |
| :- | :- | :- |
| created | The payment exists and can be canceled. | blockchain\_payment.created

Note: We do not send this webhook for outgoing payments |
| under\_review | Lead is manually reviewing the payment. | blockchain\_payment.under\_review |
| submitted | The payment has moved out of the anchored account number. | blockchain\_payment.submitted |
| posted | The payment has completed. This is a terminal state. | blockchain\_payment.posted |
| `rejected` | The payment failed validation before funds moved from or to the anchored account number. No second object is created; the original transitions to `rejected`. See [Returns & Rejections](/v2/products/blockchain-payments/returns-exceptions). | `blockchain_payment.rejected` |
| canceled | The payment was canceled before submission. This could be done by the partner. | blockchain\_payment.canceled |

### Lifecycle

## Returns

A return is modeled as a separate linked object: when a return occurs, the original object transitions to `posted` and the linked return object carries the reversal. See [Returns & Rejections](/v2/products/blockchain-payments/returns-exceptions).
