# Application Files: Reporting Underwriting Decisions via SFTP

  **Legacy schema — superseded by the Applications API.** New programs integrate via the [Applications API](/products/applications/overview). This schema remains the supported path for file-integrated programs that have not yet migrated.

Application files capture information related to consumers' applications for partner products sponsored by Lead.

<Check>
  Applications are required for credit products and optional for depository products as they include underwriting and decisioning information on how a consumer was evaluated prior to Account creation.
</Check>

Depository products typically only require Applications when there is a credit component.

**Example:** In the case of certain credit builder products, this file is used for informing Lead about all applications, as well as updating Lead on the status of applications.

  A single application should be updated multiple times until the application is in a terminal state:

  * `approved`
  * `declined`
  * `canceled`
